1905. Pietro Neri, a young Italian fresh from the farm, arrives at the Grand Hotel, an exclusive spa hotel nestled in a glorious Alpine valley. Passing himself off as a waiter, his goal is to find out what has befallen his sister Caterina, who worked at the hotel but has vanished.
His destiny joins with that of Adele Alibrandi, the aristocratic daughter of the hotel’s proprietor. The class difference between the two does nothing to keep them from falling in love and, in the process, discovering the truth about Caterina’s mysterious fate.
Our series is a sweeping love story in costume, set entirely in a sumptuous Alpine hotel.
The Grand Hotel embodies the peak of luxury of the Austro-Hungarian Empire, the first of its kind to boast electric lighting, and it’s the preferred resort destination of the cream of Italian and Middle-European aristocracy. Framed by idyllic mountains, embellished by a picturesque lake, and adorned with flawless gardens, the Grand Hotel absolutely merits its fame.
And yet, beneath the brilliant façade of galas, banquets and hunting spectacles, there lurk dark secrets linked to the property’s centuries-old history and to the power struggles over its ownership.
Adele, a wealthy and cultured girl from an elite family, and Pietro, a humble but bright young man, will investigate high and low in the twisted world of the resort to find out what happened to his sister. In doing so, they will trigger a succession of exciting plot twists and surprising turns.
Along the way, Pietro and Adele encounter a whole cast of antagonists and fellow-travelers who add to the mix their own obsessions and intrigues in those heady mountain heights.
Our series will follow the two protagonists during what will prove for them an intense period of personal growth. In reaching adulthood, facing all the complexities and contradictions of a new century, Pietro and Adele will discover a pure and impassioned love.
